About Us
Started in 1980, Action Industries, Inc. entered the wet tap business with a single well-used Mueller CL-12. In 1982, a brand-new CL-12 was purchased, and the old machine was set aside for some much needed maintenance. Then as now, factory repair work from the manufacturer was a very costly option, so we rolled up our sleeves and tried it ourselves. Despite a healthy degree of caution, a detailed log of the disassembly, and Polaroids, it was a harrowing experience and we made mistakes in reassembly that took several weeks to correct.
Over the next few years we created a complete CL-12 repair manual and because of the many different things that can happen, the manual is in constant revision even today.
In recent years we have added several other tapping machines to our repair service, including the Mueller C1-36 and the Mueller CC-25.
Today those original two machines are still in service, along with a third CL-12 purchased used in the '90s. These three machines are maintained in good working order and function flawlessly. Between these three machines, we have performed more than 10,000 wet taps on almost every type of pipe.
