Mueller CL-12 Repair
by Leon Gary

The Mueller CL-12 drilling (tapping) machine is, in my opinion, the finest machine on the market for making wet taps 4" through 12".

In January, 1980, we started our wet tapping business with a used Mueller CL-12 that had many years of wear and abuse. In 1982, we purchased a new CL 12 and at that time started to learn how to breakdown and repair the machines. Getting this machine apart is not difficult, but putting it back together is akin to the story of Humpty Dumpty.

Over the years I have learned how to analyze symptoms and make the necessary repairs without complete disassembly of the machine. This sometimes saves several thousand dollars in repair bills.

The most standard operating procedure is to send the machine back to the manufacturer for repair. This will generally take most of a month and the cost is prohibitive even for the smallest problem.

Action Industries, Inc. will repair only what is wrong with your machine, send back old replaced parts plus digital photographs and an explanation of what went wrong. We also offer free advice on how to operate and protect your equipment.

Our charges are generally less than half of the manufacturer's charges and turnaround time is kept to an absolute minimum. We understand the need for fast service because we are still in the wet tapping business today.

Incidentally, the used CL-12 we bought in 1980 is still in operation today! These machines will last a lifetime if properly maintained, but can be damaged beyond practical repair if severely abused.
